Vacation in architectural monument combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the ‘Vacation in architectural monument’ foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.

Public transport: From Visp, take the bus to Unterstalden Dorf and you will find yourself in front of the house, entrance at the fountain.

By car: From Visp in the direction of Unterstalden Dorf. Access to the house for loading and unloading is guaranteed.

Parking: In the public car park (chargeable) at the top of the village centre, about 150m further up.

Number of persons 4: The house offers space for four guests in two bedrooms (2 double rooms), 1 additional sofa bed for a child.

Season: All year round

Short holidays: Not possible.

Outdoor space: Small furnished seating area in front of the kitchen, to the side of the house with a view of the village and the main street.

Heating: Three Giltstein stoves, one per room, plus a fireplace in the kitchen. In the lower bedroom, electric stove. Underfloor heating in the downstairs bathroom. In the upper bathroom, towel radiator (with remote control!).

Stove / fireplace: Giltstein stoves and fireplace.

WLAN: Is available.

Open: The house can be rented all year round.

Pets: Pets are not allowed.

Altitude: 907 m above sea level.

Kitchen: Induction hob with oven. Dishwasher available. Mocca cafetière. All surfaces in the kitchen should not be wiped with a scouring pad, only with washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.

Extras: The floors are made of wood and stone, which is why we recommend good slippers. As not all rooms in historic houses can be heated evenly, we recommend that you bring enough warm clothing. When the stoves are heated, please close the doors to the rooms, otherwise the heat will dissipate in the cold stairwell. The exact procedure for firing up the stoves is described on site in the house folder. Please read the instructions in the house folder carefully. In particular, there are low ceilings in the upper bedroom (lowest point approx. 170cm). Attention beams to the WC downstairs, beams in the kitchen and all room doors! Narrow staircase to the 1st floor, without railing.

Important additions and dangers:
The Casino Unterstalden is a historic building, a listed building. Although it is technically equipped to modern standards, we would like to point out that certain functional details such as window and door openers, stair handrails and step heights do not comply with current standards and may be a potential source of danger. Use at your own risk. The tenant is aware of these circumstances. The Vacation in architectural monument foundation and e-domizil decline any liability.
